Terrain Generator V0.6


  • New UI: As mentioned in the last devlog the user interface has been redesigned to make it less cramped and leave room for new features. Note it's only possible to modify the terrain when viewing either the sculpt or paint tabs.
  • Rewritten procedural generation - The procedural generation is now a compute shader which makes it more responsive to any changes to the settings
  • Hydraulic erosion - I've started implementing hydraulic erosion to give more realistic results. Note this is still a work in progress and doesn't yet give good results
  • You can rotate the brush using ctrl + mousewheel
  • More options for procedural texturing - as well as being able to apply the textures from the top down and to steep areas it's now possible to apply them bottom up, shallow areas, peaks, valleys and randomly. (Note the peaks and valleys modes are a work in progress. They're not totally accurate and selecting them will slow down any sculpt operations)
  • More brushes - I've added some brushes for sculpting taken from cgtricks.com
  • Painting and sculpting now have separate sets of brushes and separate brush controls
  • There's now a manual - You can find it in the root folder for the program or you can download a copy separately
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent you from importing materials
  • The file browser for importing materials and textures now shows jpeg files when using the image filter
